Let’s be honest, most of November is just passing the time leading up to Thanksgiving. I apologize to all of you who have birthdays, anniversaries, special accomplishments that happen in early November, but it’s just true. Maybe I say that because I can’t think of a single thing we did that was very exciting.
Malory helped me do laundry. What?!? You don’t drink beer while you do laundry? If you don’t, you should try it…makes the job so much more fun.
The big kids and I went to see “Willy Wonka’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Aren’t these two sweet? They love each other so much (90% of the time anyway).
A little before Thanksgiving, we had a wonderful surprise visit from two of our favorite girls. Libs and ME came for the night, and we had a blast as always. These two cuties are such good buddies, and unfortunately they don’t get to see enough of each other.
John and I were also transported back to Ye Olden’ Days, when we watched our young Pilgrim and his first grade class present the story of the first Thanksgiving. Jackson did great, even though he channeled his cousin Tyler and almost fell down in the middle of all of his friends, which would have created a bowling pin effect. Crisis avoided.
Shortly thereafter, I escaped back to present-day, while John participated in the school Thanksgiving Luncheon….at 10:45. From experience, I can tell you that it’s a real treat to stand in line for 1 hour with a bunch of fidgety, hyped-up, 7-year-olds. BUT, the reward is great…in the form of creamed turkey and canned peas. Plus, chocolate milk just like the Pilgrims and Indians had.
Finally Thanksgiving week arrived, and we went over the river and through the woods to Winter Park. The BSSB (see January 2013) was packed to capacity with supplies for a 5 day trip for a family of 5, plus fixins’ for Thanksgiving dinner for 14. I am tired just remembering it all.
I don’t have many pictures of the weekend, because I was either too busy cooking or drinking or both. Plus, some of the pictures that have surfaced on Facebook or amongst the phones of other attendees are, well…..not suitable for this family blog. I did manage to scrounge up a few:
A rare picture of Malory and Mom
We totally look sober in this picture (pay no mind to the drinks in our hands)
And, the reason for the trip. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Burris!!!
