February 1 was a Friday this year and this picture just sums up our end-of-the-week vibes. I too needed some eye masks, but I subbed my hot cocoa for wine. I love this picture of Malory….she just works so hard to hang with the big girls. I’m not sure why the salt and pepper is out with their hot cocoa, but maybe they’re onto some sort of delicacy I know nothing about.
And speaking of delicacies, as predicted following the 4-month long holiday season AND a food-filled trip to NYC, my pants are a little tighter than I’d like them to be. We’re not to the unbuttoning phase yet, but I’ve learned from experience that the sooner you get this under control, the better. So, back on Keto we go. This time though, for pure entertainment purposes (mine), John is also participating. As with anything the man does, he’s going about it with a fierce intensity. Like, there is no halfway. He’s fully in. For like 10 days.
Malory was inspired by our recent trip to the stock show and began her quest to create her own horse show. In no time at all she had them performing an elaborate routine in the dark to her favorite country tune…”Knockin’ Boots.”
Have I ever mentioned that Malory goes to half-day Kindergarten and that it was probably one of my worst parenting decisions? I truly love having my last little home with me for one more year, but you guys….she is home every day by 11:00. And if you know Mal, she is not content to sit and watch TV. Nope. There will be entertainment. So, what do we do?
Some days we cook. It took many deep breaths on my part to allow this project to happen with minimal supervision, but in the end it did buy me a solid 20 minutes of time. I think I folded laundry…by myself. Bliss.
On other days, we run errands. On this particular day I thought it would be easy to just pop into the mall to purchase some new undies. Somehow, we came out 2 hours later with no undergarments and a bag from American Girl. I’ve been duped.
And lastly, on our very favorite days these two show up to take us out to lunch. Truth of the matter is that sweet Grand-friend Sue takes over my kindergarten volunteer spot while Larry and I solve the world’s problems over coffee. Once she’s done, we must reward Sue with lunch and wine.
One last thing for the month. This sweet girl has been waiting a long time for her braces. For the life of me I have no idea why, because my memories of the experience are less than pleasant. But, she was as excited as this picture shows….for about 6 hours. If you know Reese, you know that enduring pain or illness is not her strong suit. This was another of those times where I had to force myself to be warm and fuzzy and sympathetic.
