So, have I mentioned that my husband is on a quest to become one of those fools who runs, bikes, and swims literally ALL DAY? I haven’t? Well, that’s shocking because it seems as if it’s all we do/think about/talk about/plan around. And, the first week of April was no exception. John headed to Houston for his “practice round” if you will. He hates it when I call it a “half-Ironman” but it is literally half the distance of a regular Ironman, so what in the world else would you call it? The proper term is a 70.3 (half of 140.6….duh!). You might think the kids and I would go with him to cheer him on and make a mini-vacation out of it, but there are two things wrong with that scenario. #1 It’s Houston, not Cancun. #2 Triathlons are not spectator sports….especially for 6+ hours.
So, we hung around the homestead and I did my best to entertain the littles.
We went to a movie. Beauty and the Beast Part Deux was fantastic….and on a sidenote, we have become so spoiled by the Cinemark Bistro that I don’t think I’ll be able to go to a “regular” theater again. Full menu? Check. Booze? Check. Reclining seats? Awesome.
I did finally get smart and cover the granite on the island with plastic tablecloths. Only took me 10 years of scrubbing Paas egg dye from the floor grout to get that right.
Whew!!!….this whole month was a whirlwind of activity, not the least of which was preparing to pack up and move my ENTIRE LIFE to a different city. (Wait….I didn’t mention that, did I? Selective Memory I guess. Stay tuned for next month) Some Most days I had to take a few minutes in the afternoon to just decompress and get my mind right before the kids got home. They deserved that much. And, the bonus was that on any given day I had a dog companion to help me.
